- The promoter of the SCEMES National Short Story Competition is SCEMES Ltd, 7 The Cross, Oswestry, Shropshire, SY11 1PN
- In all matters relating to the National Short Story Competition, the Promoter’s decision is final.
- The Rules of the National Short Story Competition are set out separately and apply as part of these Terms & Conditions. Where there may appear to be any contradiction between these Terms & Conditions and the Rules of the National Short Story Competition, the Promoter reserves the right to choose the most beneficial interpretation appropriate in the Promoter’s view, at the Promoter’s sole discretion.
- Winning schools will be expected to spend monetary prize sums directly with suppliers of products and services listed in the Headteachers and Bursars Handbooks, and accessible via the SCEMES website, www.scemes.com.
- In the event that no suitable supplier of products or services is currently listed in the Headteachers and Bursars Handbooks, SCEMES Ltd. undertakes to find a suitable or competitive supplier within a maximum of 30 days of being informed by the winning school, in writing, that no suitable supplier is listed in the Headteachers and Bursars Handbooks.
- Each winning school agrees to advise SCEMES Ltd of its purchasing requirements in relation to the value of the monetary prize, and SCEMES Ltd. will be responsible for placing purchase orders in respect of the winning school’s purchases requirements directly with the agreed supplier or suppliers of the products or services.
- SCEMES Ltd will have no liability for settling any invoices for products or services supplied directly to the winning school unless the suppliers of those products and services have received valid purchase orders from SCEMES Ltd signed by a Director of SCEMES Ltd. SCEMES Ltd will be responsible for full settlement of all invoices relating to orders placed by SCEMES Ltd, as aforementioned, provided that the goods or services supplied directly to the winning school are fit for purpose.
- All monetary prizes are inclusive of any recoverable VAT at the standard rate of VAT applicable at the time of invoicing, which VAT will be reclaimed by SCEMES Limited.
- Any Non Monetary Prizes will be subject to availability and in the event of non availability for any reason outside the control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of similar monetary value, as may be determined by the Promoter, at the sole discretion of the Promoter.
- No purchase is necessary to enter the Qualifying Draws.
- Any and all registration details will only be used by the Promoter for the purpose of the SCEMES National Short Story Competition and/or the normal business of the Promoter, but no such details will be divulged to any third party whatsoever, unless the Promoter has obtained the registrants express written permission.
- The SCEMES National Short Story Competition is open to all United Kingdom (UK) Educational Establishments with age qualifying pupils, whether State or Independent, and only Educational Establishments in the UK are eligible.
- All entrants must be authorised by their establishments to enter the SCEMES National Short Story Competition.
- Any failure of the Promoter or its officers or judges to include an eligible entry in the SCEMES National Short Story Competition will not invalidate the Competition, and the Promoter will have no liability whatsoever to any entrant for the failure to include an eligible entry.
- All entries must be completed according to the Promoter’s requirements. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from the Competition.
- An entrant shall have no claim against the Promoter whatsoever in respect of copyright.
- By entering the SCEMES National Short Story Competition, an entrant expressly authorises the Promoter to publish the entrants story in whatever media format chosen by the Promoter, without reference whatsoever to any issue regarding Copyright and the Promoter shall have no liability whatsoever to either the entrant or the entrants representatives in respect of Copyright, nor shall the Promoter be under any liability or obligation to make any payment whatsoever to the entrant for any reason whatsoever.
- By entering the SCEMES National Short Story Competition, an entrant authorises the Promoter to use the entrants contact details for the purpose of communicating information relating to any products and services provided by the Promoter, for the Promoter’s own internal purposes, and in relation to the Promoter’s mailings of its Headteachers and Bursars Handbooks, and any other mailings related directly to the business of the Promoter.
- All entrants to the SCEMES National Short Story Competition agree to allow the Promoter to use their details in relation to any publicity or advertising that the Promoter may undertake with regard to the business of the Promoter.
- The SCEMES National Short Story Competition Winners (both the schools and individual pupils) agree to allow the Promoter to use their details in relation to any publicity or advertising that the Promoter may undertake with regard to the business of the Promoter.
- The SCEMES National Short Story Competition Winners (both the schools and individual pupils) agree to participate in any prize award ceremony, publicity and advertising that the Promoter may undertake, together with those of any co-sponsors associated with the Promoter.
- The Promoter undertakes to give advance notice of all publicity arrangements to the SCEMES National Short Story Competition Winners.
- The Promoter reserves the right to change, cancel or amend the SCEMES National Short Story Competition for any circumstances outside its control, at any time, and without notice.
- The promoter reserves the right to vary the Terms & Conditions relating to the SCEMES National Short Story Competition at any time and at its sole discretion.
- Entry to the SCEMES National Short Story Competition is in itself confirmation that the entrant accepts the current Terms & Condition applying to the Competition.
