- SCEMES National Short Story Competition 2008 is open to all KS2 Pupils aged between 7 and 11 who have attained that age on or after 1st September 2007 of the academic year 2007/8.
- Stories must be a maximum of 1,000 words in length and based on the theme of ‘One World’
- All entries must be written in English and be the original, unpublished work of the author.
- Only schools are eligible to enter stories to the SCEMES National Short Story Competition. Individual entrants are not permitted.
- Every UK Primary School is entitled to enter 3 short stories for judging. Any further entries will be disqualified.
- Entry to the SCEMES National Short Story Competition is FREE.
- Schools are required to submit their entries no later than 5th June 2008. (Entries received after this date will be ineligible for competition entry)
- No names or contact details are to be written anywhere on the stories. For postal entries, please include the pupil’s name, age, school address and story title along with the teacher's name and contact email on a separate sheet of paper. Alternatively, submit stories via our online submission form.
- The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The copyright of the story remains with the author who gives SCEMES Ltd. permission to publish it as appropriate.
- Winners will be decided no later than 8th July 2008 and notified via their schools
- A list of prize-winners will be published on the SCEMES Ltd. website from 15th July.
- Prizes for the winning children are non-transferable, non- negotiable and no cash alternatives are available. Full details of prizes will be provided to the winners at the time of notification.
